Advertising on bol.com: buy visibility, keep profit

Ranking organically at the top of bol takes time. Advertising is the shortcut: you pay for a preferred position at the top of search results and on competitors' product pages.

How it works

The main tool is Sponsored Products, a cost-per-click auction — you only pay when someone clicks. Your bid counts, but so does relevance: how well your product matches the search and how likely the customer is to buy. The best combination of bid and relevance wins the auction. Branded Shelves are available for brand sellers.

What matters: ACOS

ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sale) is your ad spend divided by the revenue it generates. This is your most important number. The trap is "blind bidding": clicks are nice, but if your ACOS eats your margin, you're paying to sell. Factor in commission — at 15% commission and 15% ACOS, 30% of your revenue is gone before other costs are paid.

Start smart

Often start with automatic campaigns to discover which keywords convert, then build more targeted campaigns from there. Split Netherlands and Belgium when relevant, and track per product what it really yields — not just ACOS, but profit.

Advertise with margin in view

ChatRylee ties your ad data to your real margin. Ask "which campaigns are losing money?" or "where can I spend better?" and get an answer based on your own numbers — including the effect of commission and returns that a standalone ads tool doesn't see.

Ask ChatRylee where your ad budget really pays off.
